January's Focus: Vertical
Let's get vertical! While we move the spine in every direction and work the full body every class, each month has a focus at 1COR Pilates. We sit, hunch, and lay down so much in our daily lives that we're going VERTICAL for January! Concentrating on standing, kneeling, 1/2 kneeling, single leg balance, weight transfer from left to right, front to back will strengthen glutes, hamstrings, feet, ankles, and core while challenging your coordination and mind-body connection. Bad knees? Poor balance? Come see me! You need this!
Alisha is a Pink Ribbon Program certified breast cancer exercise specialist. She chose this certification when her mother was diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrine breast cancer. A mastectomy with or without reconstruction introduces changes in joint range of motion for the shoulder(s) and can create or exacerbate poor posture due to tight chest muscles and weak back muscles. The curriculum is a post-operative rehabilitation program designed to help you move well through the chest, back, and shoulders while building core strength.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What and why is there a free consultation requirement? The consultation is an opportunity for us to discuss your goals, current and past injuries, joint health, etc. You will experience the reformer, stability chair, and spring tower in order to experience how spring variable resistance feels in the body.
2. What should I wear? Grip socks. Tight, stretchy clothes without zippers, buckles or other metal embellishments because those can damage the equipment. Shorts and sports bras are fine as long as your tits and bits are secure. I've seen some stuff!
3. I've never done Pilates! What should I expect? Everyone starts somewhere! Classes are small for this purpose! You don't need experience or flexibility. Just come with an open mind and ready to have a great time! If you'd like to discuss your specific needs, email be1corfit@yahoo.com or call/ text 256-258-9388
4. What if I'm pregnant? Please consult your doctor before starting any fitness program. That being said, the instructor will walk you through modifications dependent upon your trimester. Because our classes are small, you will receive all the attention you deserve to help you move safely and enjoyably.
5. Does 1COR offer beginner classes? The classes are small on purpose so I can meet you where you are, provide alternatives and modifications, and support you through your pilates experience.
6. What if I have arthritis, osteoporosis, or a joint replacement? I've worked with individuals with a variety of conditions. I can help you modify safely and remain pain free. If there's a movement that's contraindicated for your condition, I'll give you an alternative.
